Rakish Light News:

Follow our adventures in printing @Rakishlightpress

Upcoming:
"When Artists Publish: Berlin–Los Angeles,"
September 15, 2018, 4pm, SPRÜTH MAGERS LA (5900 Wilshire Blvd)

There is a long history of artists working as publishers, from Alfred Stieglitz’s journal 'Camera Work' to 'The Situationist Times'. These publishing enterprises created potent vehicles for collaborating with other artists and disseminating their work in innovative ways. This mode of working is as present as ever, with exhibitions and fairs devoted to artists’ presses and publications, even as digital platforms have outpaced traditional printing methods. On the occasion of Thomas Scheibitz’s exhibition at Sprüth Magers, Los Angeles, a panel of artist-publishers including Scheibitz will discuss their motivations, techniques, and philosophies around publishing in a variety of forms.

Participants:
DIAMONDPAPER (Thomas Scheibitz)
Hesse Press (Clare Kelly and John Wiese)
Rakish Light (Deirdre O’Dwyer and Brian O’Connell)
Wendy Yao (Ooga Booga)
Moderated by Pietro Rigolo, Special Collections Archivist, Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles
